Frequently Asked Questions
What kalimba does the app work with?
Kalimba Tunes is designed for a standard 17-key C-major kalimba. The color-coded notes correspond to the tines on that instrument. If your kalimba has a different tuning or fewer keys, some songs may not be fully playable.
How do I slow down a song?
During playback, tap the tempo indicator (shown as a multiplier, e.g. 1x) in the top bar. You can adjust the speed down to 0.25x — useful when you're learning a new piece — and back up to full speed once you're comfortable.
Can I turn off the audio and play along myself?
Yes. Tap the speaker icon in the top bar during playback to mute the reference audio. The note runway and lyrics will continue to scroll so you can follow along on your own kalimba.
I can't hear any sound. What should I check?
First, make sure your iPhone is not on silent (Ring/Silent switch on the left side). Then check that the in-app mute toggle is off (speaker icon in the top bar). Also confirm your device volume is turned up using the physical buttons. If the issue persists, try closing and reopening the app.
What songs are in the library?
The library includes 30+ traditional songs across three categories:
- Folk — Amazing Grace, Annie Laurie, Auld Lang Syne, and more
- Easy — Brahms Lullaby, Clementine, and other beginner-friendly tunes
- Christmas — Jingle Bells, Joy to the World, and seasonal favourites
More songs are planned for future updates.
Can I add my own songs?
Not currently — the app ships with a curated library of traditional songs. Custom song support is something we're considering for a future version. If you have a specific request, let us know via email.
Does the app work offline?
Yes. Once the app is installed, all songs and audio are available without an internet connection. No streaming required.
Which devices are supported?
Kalimba Tunes is designed for iPhone and requires iOS 16 or later. iPad support is not available at this time.
Does the app require any permissions?
No. Kalimba Tunes does not request access to your microphone, camera, contacts, location, or any other device features. It runs entirely self-contained.
Does the app collect any personal data?
No. Kalimba Tunes does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. There is no account, no tracking, and no analytics. All app data lives on your device only. To remove everything, simply delete the app from your iPhone.
How much storage does the app use?
The app is lightweight — all songs, audio, and assets are bundled in the download and take up minimal space on your device. No additional downloads are required after installation.
I found a bug. How do I report it?
Please email us at team@mydoremi.co with a description of what happened, which song you were playing (if relevant), and your iPhone model and iOS version. This helps us reproduce and fix the issue as quickly as possible.
